Spectrum Aeromed on List of Fastest-Growing Private Companies
Reprinted from Rotor.com, August 31, 2011

Over the past three years, Spectrum Aeromed has grown revenue by 799.3 percent to earn the position of 433 on the 2011 Inc. 500 list, Inc. Magazine’s annual ranking of the fastest-growing private companies in America. The company realized revenue of $7.9 million in 2010. They have 20 full-time employees with headquarters in Fargo and client service offices in Vancouver, Wash. and Munich, Germany. The company’s life-saving air ambulance equipment, engineered and manufactured in Fargo, is in use worldwide as evidenced by the fact that 80 percent of the company’s revenues are generated through exports.
As an Inc. 500 honoree, Spectrum Aeromed shares a prestigious pedigree with such notable alumni as Zappos, SAS, Under Armour, Microsoft, Oracle and scores of other entrepreneurial powerhouses.
“For more than 30 years Inc.’s list has served as evidence of the significant accomplishments of private enterprises. And, more than ever, this year’s list is a testament to the creativity, resilience, and tenacity of America’s top entrepreneurs,” states Jane Berentson, Editor in Chief of Inc. magazine.
Spectrum Aeromed CEO Dean Atchison observes, “earning a place on the 2011 Inc. 500 list is a special honor and a direct result of the extraordinary skills, commitment and perseverance of the very special team of employees that is Spectrum Aeromed. Making the Inc. 500 list any year is a great accomplishment; doing it in the middle of historically difficult economic times certainly adds to the honor.”
ABOUT THE INC. 500 LIST Eligible companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth from 2007 through 2010. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by March 31, 2007. Additionally, they had to be based in the United States, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2010. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.)
The minimum revenue required for 2007 is $100,000; the minimum for 2010 is $2 million. Revenue figures given in the company profiles are for calendar years, as are employee counts. Full-time and part-time employees are included in the employee counts; independent contractors are not. Inc. reserves the right to reject applicants for subjective reasons.
