Fargo, ND (August 22, 2011) — Spectrum Aeromed has developed a customized emergency medical interior for Hawker Beechcraft Corporation’s (HBC) special missions King Air 350ER (extended range) demonstration aircraft, which is now on an 18-month world tour appearing at various tradeshows and events.

Spectrum Aeromed’s customized configuration for the King Air 350ER includes dual patient transport modules and stretchers, a manual loading system, a four-drawer medical cabinet on the right side and high density seating on the left side. The base modules feature full advance life support systems which include an inverter, oxygen bottle, vacuum and air pumps, remote fill port for oxygen, duplex AC electrical outlets, a DC outlet, pneumatic outlets, circuit breakers and four IV mounts. There is also a stretcher bridge to allow for the mounting of medical devices and a movable overhead panel with additional outlets which will enhance patient care.

Spectrum Aeromed’s seat rail adapters allow the modular bases to attach to the aircraft’s existing brownline using only four drop pins. It is this feature that affords the equipment its versatility; no special tools or mechanics are needed to install, remove or interchange the life support components.

“Collaborating with manufacturers to pre-fit aircraft for air medical interiors is great for everyone, saving months of time and lost revenue compared to retro-fitting an aircraft already in use. The purchased aircraft is multi-mission ready at the time of purchase without having to wait for STCs (supplemental type certification),” says Bruce Gullingsrud, Vice President of Business Development for Spectrum Aeromed.

As the aircraft circles the globe on tour, it can be redirected to provide emergency medical assistance or evacuations should any major earthquake, tsunami or other natural disaster occur.

The customized air medical interior is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration and European Aviation Safety Agency and is available for immediate delivery on new aircraft from the HBC factory.
